Brad Pearson - How-To Building Center Director
Brad is a Nebraska native, raised on a corn and bean-based farm. Today, Brad and his family own a Shorthorn cow/calf operation with his father in law. Brad graduated college at Southeast Community College, graduating with an Agribusiness degree. He started his career in retail, at the Farmers Coop in Plymouth NE, as a store manager for the tire department. But on the weekends, he ran a HI Boy and a Terragator. For the last 25 years, Brad has worked at American Tire Distributors, where he would help tire stores increase profitability and adapt to today’s market changes.
Brad and his wife, Bev, have three children. Brooke (26) is a hairdresser in Lincoln NE; Gerrit (25) is a quick lane manager in Sioux Falls; and Cody (21) who is an active Army Calvary Scout based in Fairbanks, Alaska. In their free time Brad and Bev enjoy camping, ATVing in the Black Hills, and riding the Harley Davidson.
Mark Van Ommeren - Assistant Manager
It would be difficult to ask for help with a home repair or improvement operation Mark hasn’t done himself at some point. For 14 years, Mark and his wife Becky, owned a home appliance and electronics store. Prior to that he worked as a building contractor, framing and finishing new homes and completing plumbing and wiring. Mark and Becky have two daughters and a son. Mark is also a fan of NASCAR and enjoys flower and vegetable gardening.
Ron Boon - Contractor & Package Sales
Ron Boon, known to most as simply Boon, has built a long career devoted to the building industry starting in 1972. He came to FCS in April 2000. Though Boon admits to doing most everything in the lumberyard at some point, in recent years he’s spent a lot of time helping FCS customers design kitchens and homes. When Boon is away from the office he enjoys camping, fishing, biking and wood working.
Darren Kruid - Contractor & Package Sales
With 15 years of lumberyard experience, Darren understands the expertise his customers need and the performance their day to day operations demand. His vast knowledge of the How-to Building Center’s offerings makes him the perfect fit for your estimating needs. Darren enjoys hunting and fishing and spending time with his wife, Niki, and their two daughters.
Eric Cleveringa - Service Manager
Eric and his wife, Jennifer, live on a farm Southwest of Orange City with their three boys; Camden (7), Creighton (4), and Kinnick (2). Eric previously worked as a Project Manager for Ag Property Solutions in Orange City. Outside of work, he enjoys camping, sports, working on his jeep, and remodel projects on his home. Eric also enjoys spending time with his family and his friend.
Mike Ochsner - Traeger Specialist/Retail Sales
Mike has been with the How-To Building Center since 2013. He originally is from Maurice and has 16 years’ experience in the food service industry. Today, he is your Traeger Grill and Accessories Specialist. He can help find the right pellets, seasonings, rubs, and so much more.
Abby Anderson - Paint Specialist/Retail Sales
Abby graduated from Dordt College in 2015. Abby loves helping customers with their projects and specializes in paint. She also enjoys getting to know our customers and seeing them on a daily basis. Abby has been with the How-To Building Center since the summer of 2018. In her spare time she enjoys crafting, reading and spoiling her pet cats.
Julie Bogenrief - Office Assistant
Julie is a new addition to the How-to Building Center. For most of her career she worked at BoDeans in LeMars. Today, she is assisting Brad (Store Manager) at the Building Center. Julie has two children and enjoys doing crafts with them when she’s not working. She also likes going camping, fishing, and boating in her free time. Julie’s favorite part of her job is the ability to help her customers.
April Bonestroo - General Sales Associate
April came to the How-To Building Center this past year. She's a General Sales Associate so she can help you with just about anything in the store but she specializes in Pet Food, Hog Store Merchandise, and our Paint Department. April graduated from Diamond Cut Dog Grooming in Medina, Ohio and went to work at Petco. April also has experirnce working on a sow farm, where she managed the day to day facility. She's born and raised in Perkins, IA and when she's not working you can find her enjoying the outdoor, hunting or raising dogs.
Ron Schmith - Lumberyard Foreman
Ron started part time with Farmers Coop Society in 1993, but has been full time since 1999. Our lumberyard foreman is originally from George, and resides on his acreage west of Sioux Center. Ron enjoys meeting with customers and providing for all their needs. When not assisting customers, Ron enjoys working on his acreage, riding his motorcycle, or spending time with his wife Marla, their four kids, and eight grandchildren.
Nelvin Brons - Yardman/Delivery Team
Nelvin has 16 years of construction experience ranging from residential to commerical to farm and agriculture. Nelvin has been with the How-To Building Center since 2013 and enjoys helping customers with their project questions.
Patrick Richter - Yardman/Delivery Team
Patrick has been with the How-To Building Center for several years and in the summer of 2018, he became a full-time member. Patrick has 11 years in the lumberyard service industry and enjoys helping customers with their product questions.
Austin Sandbulte - Yardman/Delivery Team
Austin has been with the How-To Building Center since 2014. He grew up on his family farm in Carmel, Iowa, assisting with raising pigs, calves & cows throughout his childhood. When Austin is not working he enjoys spending his time kayaking, camping, and fishing.
Grant De Groot - Hog Store Service Manager
A service tech repairman in the swine confinement area for the How-To Building Center, Grant De Groot loves talking to customers and keeping their operations running smoothly. Grant started working at the How to Building Center in 2010. He resides in Orange City with his wife Heidi and their four children. In his spare time, he enjoys working with livestock, farming, and spending time with family.
Marv Mulder - Hog Store Service Team
Marv started at the How-To Bulding Center in 2018 but he has a long history of servicing hog confinements and hauling livestock. Marv really enjoys the day to day challenges he encounters on the hog service team and being able to find a solution to those challenges and helping customers.
Russell Severson II - Hog Store Service Team
Russell has a long history of service and maintenance. He is originally from Beresford, SD where he lives with his wife and five children. Russel really enjoys his position at the How-To Building Center. He is able to work outside and is met with a different set of challenges each day.
